Roche's Susvimo Gets European Union Approval

By Najat Kantouar

Roche's Susvimo, a treatment for neovascular age-related macular degeneration that affects a part of the eye, has been approved by the European Commission for use in Europe.

The Swiss drugmaker said Monday that the approval is based on data from three clinical studies on neovascular age-related macular degeneration--one of the main causes of vision loss in people over the age of 60.

"By offering patients continuous delivery through a refillable implant, Susvimo offers a unique alternative to frequent eye injections that can help maintain vision while significantly reducing the treatment burden," Chief Medical Officer and Head of Global Product Development Levi Garraway said.
