ICE Canola Retreats as Harvest Continues
WINNIPEG, Manitoba--Canola futures on the Intercontinental Exchange were under pressure in the middle of Friday trading amid mixed sentiment in comparable oils.
An analyst said dry weather throughout much of the Prairies over the next few days will advance the region's canola harvest. The analyst also said if crude oil holds onto gains, the oilseed should make gains as well.
Crude oil prices were mixed, under pressure from repairs to a Saudi Arabian pipeline. Chicago soyoil and Malaysian palm oil were lower, while European rapeseed was higher.
The Canadian Grain Commission reported a negligible amount of canola exports during the week ended Sept. 13. However, the year-to-date total moved up to 709,600 metric tons.
The Canadian dollar was down more than one-tenth of a U.S. cent compared with Thursday's close.
About 22,000 canola contracts have traded at 10:16 a.m. CDT.
