Infineon to Sell NOR Flash, F-RAM Business for $1.12 Billion

By Ian Walker

Infineon Technologies said it is selling its NOR Flash and F-RAM business to Taiwan-based semiconductor supplier Winbond Electronics for $1.12 billion on a cash and debt free basis.

The German chip maker said Wednesday that it will keep a portfolio of specialty memory solutions. It expects the deal to complete in the second half of next year, subject to regulatory approvals.

"It [the deal] allows Infineon to further focus its portfolio and capital allocation on its core growth drivers," Automotive Division President Peter Schiefer said.
