By Elias Schisgall

American depositary receipts of Fomento Económico Mexicano rose after the company agreed to repurchase up to $280 million worth of American depositary shares in an accelerated share repurchase agreement.

ADRs were up 3.1% to $120.62 in Monday afternoon trading. They are up 19% year-to-date.

The Mexican retail and beverages company, also known as FEMSA, said Monday it had entered the agreement with a financial institution in the U.S.

The exact number of ADS repurchased and delivered will be based on their daily volume-weighted average price during the agreement, discounted. Final settlement is expected before the end of the year.
