BASF Hires Banks for Planned Agricultural Solutions Business IPO

By Ian Walker

BASF said it has hired banks to start preparing for the initial public offering of its agricultural solutions business, which is planned for mid-2027.

The German chemicals giant said Monday it mandated Citi, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan as global coordinators to lead the planned IPO.

BASF said the separation of the business was on track, but no decision has been made on the process or timing of any IPO, which will depend on market conditions, among other things.

It plans to provide a strategic and operational overview of the agricultural solutions business at its capital markets day on Nov. 24.

"The potential IPO is a central element of BASF's 'Winning Ways' strategy and is intended to unlock the full value potential of the business as an independent, pure-play agricultural company," BASF said.

BASF said in November that it was planning to list the business on the Frankfurt stock exchange. Long-serving executive Livio Tedeschi will be president of the business, while Sascha Bibert, currently finance chief at French steel-tube maker Vallourec, will be in charge of finance.
