ICE Canola Tumbles Ahead of Weekend
WINNIPEG, Manitoba--Canola futures on the Intercontinental Exchange retreated on Friday morning, following weakness in comparable oils.
Crude oil was lower on Friday after a series of sharp increases. However, several bullish factors remained poised to potentially drive prices higher.
Chicago soyoil and European rapeseed were down while Malaysian palm oil was mostly lower.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture will release its monthly supply/demand estimates later Friday. Projected soybean and corn output could affect prices and spill over into Chicago soyoil and canola.
Rain will fall across the entire Prairie region with high temperatures in Alberta and Saskatchewan stuck in the teens Celsius. In southern Manitoba, daytime highs will barely exceed 20 degrees Celsius.
The Canadian dollar was down one-quarter of a U.S. cent compared with Thursday's close.
Nearly 19,900 contracts were traded. Prices in Canadian dollars per metric ton as of 9:55 a.m. ET:
