Stellantis and China's UQI Robotics Collaborate on Autonomous Logistics

By Dominic Chopping

Automaker Stellantis said its commercial vehicles business and Chinese autonomous driving, artificial intelligence, and industrial robotics company UQI Robotics will collaborate on autonomous delivery solutions.

Stellantis Pro One and UQI Robotics plan to explore the further development of Stellantis's autonomous logistics vehicle Box-on-Wheels.

Box-on-Wheels will initially focus on Europe, with additional international markets to be assessed as the project advances.

The companies will also work together on last-mile logistics, evaluating how autonomous logistics, electrification, connectivity and services could come together for future logistics operations.

"Professional customers are increasingly looking for solutions that go beyond the vehicle itself," said Eric Laforge, global senior vice president at Stellantis Pro One.

UQI Robotics is a joint venture established by UBTECH and Miracle Automation in 2020. It has recorded more than 260 million euros ($301.9 million) in cumulative contract value since it was established and deployed more than 7,000 robots across 66 cities and regions worldwide.

Li Bei, chairman and chief executive of UQI Robotics, said the collaboration with Stellantis Pro One will help it advance towards an autonomous end-to-end logistics system with autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots.

"Together, we aim to explore the development of a new generation of autonomous logistics vehicles and delivery solutions that meet the needs of customers in Europe and other international markets and are designed for deployment at scale," Li Bei said.
