U.S. 30-Year Treasury Auction Shows Strong Demand

The U.S. Treasury auction of 30-year bonds Thursday showed strong demand, providing a gauge of investors' appetite for longer-term debt as 30-year Treasury yields have climbed to their highest levels since 2007.
The Treasury's monthly auction sold $22 billion in bonds. The high yield at the auction was 5.308%, the highest since August 9, 2001, when it was 5.52%
Following the auction, the U.S. 30-year yield hovered around 5.329%.
The bid-to-cover ratio, a measure of investor demand, was 2.61, higher than the prior six-month average of 2.38.
