ICE Canola Rises, Reversing Wednesday Losses With Support From Soy

WINNIPEG, Manitoba--ICE Futures canola contracts were stronger at midday Thursday, taking back Wednesday's losses as gains in the Chicago soy complex provided spillover support.

--November canola was down by C$6.20 at C$832.90 per ton at midsession.

--Continued strength in crude oil accounted for some spillover buying interest in the grains and oilseeds, as West Texas Intermediate climbed above US$100 per barrel.

--Forecasts calling for the chance of frost in northern reaches of the Canadian Prairies over the weekend were also supportive.

--The United States Department of Agriculture will release updated supply/demand estimates on Friday and positioning ahead of the data accounted for some of the activity in the North American markets.

--An estimated 33,000 canola contracts traded as of 11:47 EDT.
