Rheinmetall Gets $7.3 Million Order to Supply Unmanned Vehicles to U.S. Marines

By Dominic Chopping

German defense group Rheinmetall has been awarded a $7.3 million contract to supply unmanned ground vehicles to the U.S. Marine Corps.

The order, through Rheinmetall's U.S. defense-vehicle manufacturing unit American Rheinmetall, includes the delivery of 12 Mission Master SP vehicles, kits that enable extended amphibious operations, and supporting equipment.

The company said the vehicles would contribute to the Marine Corps' efforts to enhance autonomous logistics, extend operational reach and reduce personnel exposure to risk.

The order supports the development of American Rheinmetall's Maine facility, and while it doesn't immediately require facility expansion, it represents an important step toward future U.S. manufacturing and workforce growth, Rheinmetall said.
