Novo Nordisk Says Wegovy Shot Helped Children Lose Weight in Trial

Novo Nordisk said its Wegovy injection helped children with obesity shed weight in a clinical trial, with two out of five participants no longer classified as having the condition after 68 weeks of treatment.

The Danish drugmaker said Monday that the study showed 40.4% of children aged 6 to under 12 years with obesity who were treated with Wegovy in combination with a lower-calorie diet and increased physical activity reduced their body mass index to levels considered normal or overweight after 68 weeks.

This meant the trial met its primary goal demonstrating superior body-mass reduction compared to placebo, the company said.

Overall safety and tolerability of the drug were consistent with previous trials in children and adults, Novo Nordisk said.
