Stellantis Says Citroen Boss Xavier Chardon Will Also Head DS Automobiles

By Dominic Chopping

Stellantis said Tuesday that Citroen brand boss Xavier Chardon will also head DS Automobiles, bringing the two brands together under a single management structure to maximize synergies.

Chardon has led Citroen since last year, when he rejoined the company after having served in various senior positions within Volkswagen. He began his career at Citroen in Italy and held several roles within the brand before moving to Volkswagen.

He takes over the helm at DS Automobiles from Xavier Peugeot, who has been appointed head of the Jeep brand in Europe, a newly established position.

The leadership shuffle comes after Stellantis announced other management changes on Monday. Former Renault global chief marketing officer and chief branding officer Arnaud Belloni was named new chief executive of the Fiat, Abarth and Lancia brands in addition to chief marketing officer for Europe, as the group moves ahead with its new five-year plan to boost growth and profit.

Under the plan, Fiat is one of the two European brands that Stellantis has selected to focus the majority of its investments on. The other is Peugeot, with Jeep and Ram set to be the focus in North America.

As part of the plan, Stellantis said that Lancia would be developed in closer integration with Fiat, and DS with Citroen, to leverage synergies, scale and efficiency.
