Samsung Biologics plans to buy Swiss contract development and manufacturing organization PolyPeptide Group for about $2 billion.

Biosimilar drug maker Samsung Biologics said Friday it would acquire 100% of PolyPeptide for 2.706 trillion won, equivalent to $1.96 billion, to expand its contract manufacturing business.

The South Korean company, affiliated with Samsung Group, plans to raise about 3 trillion won through a rights issue to finance the planned acquisition and facility investments.

It will issue about 2.3 million new shares at 1,322,000 won each, with the new shares scheduled to be listed in November.
