By Ian Walker

Infineon Technologies said it is buying Indian technology company C2i Semiconductors for an undisclosed sum.

The German chip maker said Monday that C2i specializes in smart power stages and software-defined multiphase controllers designed for AI data centers.

"This acquisition will further strengthen Infineon's leadership in power solutions for AI data centers and create a new center of excellence for digital power technologies in India," said Adam White, president of Infineon's power systems division.

The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of this year.
