Amazon to Expand Drone Delivery Service

Amazon is expanding its drone delivery service, planning a six-fold increase from its current footprint to nearly 500 cities by the end of the year.
The service, dubbed Prime Air, is currently available in 11 cities including Phoenix, Detroit, Houston, Dallas and San Antonio. It will soon launch in communities such as: Chicago; Syracuse, N.Y.; Cleveland; Atlanta; and Boise, Idaho.
Amazon said Prime Air offers the widest selection of items by drone, including groceries, electronics, cosmetics, medications and household products. Drone delivery sites have the highest average delivery volumes in the U.S., with thousands of deliveries made daily, the company added.
David Carbon, vice president of Amazon Prime Air, said the service provides customers with a speedier option when needed, with deliveries in as fast as 30 minutes. "We've already delivered hundreds of thousands of packages to customers by drone this year, and by the end of 2026 we plan to reach customers in nearly 500 cities and towns," he said.
