Einride Buys 500 Tesla Semi Trucks to Meet Growing Demand for Freight Services
By Dominic Chopping
Swedish freight technology company Einride is set to buy 500 Tesla Semi trucks to help meet growing demand for its freight services.
The Nasdaq-listed company said Tuesday that the deployments will serve key customers including Amazon across North America and will extend its electric freight network and platform across freight corridors in California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois and Georgia.
The deployments will be carried out in multiple phases over the next 24 months, starting in September 2026, with the addition of the 500 Tesla Semis tripling the size of Einride's deployed fleet of electric trucks, it said.
It will deploy the new trucks on its fleet management platform Saga AI, which manages, operates and optimizes electric road freight.
Einride said the deployment is a step toward converting around $800 million in potential long-term annual recurring revenue under joint business plans with shippers into active, revenue-generating freight capacity.
Financial terms of the Tesla Semi deal weren't disclosed.
