Financials Down as Middle East Tensions, Treasury Yields Rise - Financials Roundup
Shares of banks and other financial institutions fell as tensions in the Middle East rose.
The yield on the 30-year Treasury bond tested multiyear highs due to concerns about rising oil and gasoline prices. One strategist said investors will scrutinize minutes from the latest Federal Reserve meeting due later in the week to assess the odds of a rate hike.
"I believe minutes could be more important than usual a) because there's a more diverse opinion than usual, and b) if the Fed is taking a new stance and not giving forward guidance, investors will be looking for virtually any future [outlook]," said J.D. Joyce, president of Houston financial advisory Joyce Wealth Management.
Investment firm General Atlantic is considering going public again nearly three years after it initially filed to do so.
