Disney in Multiyear Deal to Broadcast Formula E Races

By Grace Yoon

Disney said it has struck a multiyear deal to bring Formula E races to Disney+ and ESPN+ in the U.S. and to Disney+ for international markets beginning in the upcoming season.

Formula E is a growing motorsport and the world's only B Corp-certified sport. Its upcoming season kicks off on Dec. 18, and spans 21 rounds across 13 events.

Formula E Chief Executive Jeff Dodds said that Disney will introduce millions of new fans to the sport and bring them closer to the drama, innovation and excitement of electric racing.

Disney said the addition of the Formula E world championship expands the growing slate of global live programming on Disney+ including the 2026 FIFA World Cup in South America, NBA games in the Philippines, and select LALIGA football rights in certain countries.

Former Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger said that the company sees its vast portfolio of live sports and live programming as a competitive edge on a call with analysts last year.
