Elanco Animal Health Receives Emergency FDA Approval for Screwworm Prevention Spray

Elanco Animal Health said it received emergency authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for CLiK Extra, a wound spray to prevent infestations of New World screwworm.
The company said livestock producers and veterinarians can apply the spray on or around wounds on animals to prevent infestations of screwworm larvae before they occur.
Elanco's Negasunt powder and Tanidil received emergency authorizations for the prevention and treatment of screwworm earlier this year, the company said.
The reentry of screwworm into the U.S. was confirmed by the U.S. Agriculture Department in June. The screwworm larvae consume the flesh of their hosts, making them dangerous to any warm-blooded animal.
Elanco said CLiK is available for purchase by animal health professionals, livestock producers and those managing captive wildlife through standard product channels.
