China to Strengthen Curbs on Drone Exports to U.S.

By Sherry Qin

China is tightening controls on exports of drones to the U.S.

The country's commerce ministry said Wednesday that exports of drones and their key parts to the U.S. will be subject to strict review on a case-by-case basis, in order to "safeguard national security and interests."

China also plans to take countermeasures against six U.S. entities, including biotech company Applied DNA Sciences, which the ministry said was in response to the entities' support of U.S. sanctions related to Xinjiang.

These announcements came after the U.S. Federal Communications Commission banned the imports of new foreign-made humanoid robots and power inverters late last month, a move seen as targeting China.
