BBVA Names Spain Retail Banking Head as New Group Finance Chief

By Adria Calatayud

BBVA said it appointed Gonzalo Rodriguez, currently head of retail banking at its Spanish business, as the group's new chief financial officer, replacing Luisa Gomez Bravo amid a broad reshuffle of its leadership team.

The Spanish bank, formally known as Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, said Wednesday that Gomez Bravo would be among a group of executives stepping down from their roles. Gomez Bravo was appointed as BBVA's CFO in 2023.

As part of the changes, BBVA also named Jose Luis Elechiguerra as new country manager for Mexico, and Roberto Albaladejo as global head of strategy and mergers and acquisitions.
