Newsmax Gives Meta Access to Content for AI Development

By Katherine Hamilton

Newsmax has agreed to give Meta Platforms access to its digital news content to help build its artificial intelligence products.

Meta will be able to use Newsmax's reporting and archived content to support AI queries across its apps and devices, the media company said Tuesday.

Newsmax said it views the agreement as a way to broaden its work with technology companies and expand the reach of its journalism.

"Newsmax applauds the significant resources Meta is putting into AI to keep America at the forefront of this emerging technology," Chief Executive Chris Ruddy said.

Newsmax follows in the footsteps of several other media companies. News Corp., which owns The Wall Street Journal, and the Associate Press have both signed content agreements with OpenAI.

At the same time, some outlets have filed lawsuits against tech companies alleging they used articles to train AI without permission.
