Activist Investor Palliser Urges Segro to Discuss Prologis's $18.7 Billion Bid
By Adria Calatayud
Activist investor Palliser Capital urged U.K. industrial landlord Segro to seek a bid-deadline extension to facilitate talks with U.S. suitor Prologis about its 14 billion-pound ($18.72 billion) takeover proposal.
The comments from Palliser, which holds a small stake in Segro, come after Prologis earlier on Wednesday outlined what it called its final proposal to buy the U.K. company.
"The 'best and final proposal' from Prologis presents a compelling shareholder value proposition that deserves full and meaningful engagement by the [Segro] board," Palliser said. "We urge the board to seek an extension of the [takeover] deadline to facilitate further discussions with Prologis in order to secure a favorable transaction for all shareholders."
Segro didn't respond to requests for comment on the offer and Palliser's demands.
Under U.K. takeover rules, Prologis has to either announce a firm intention to make an offer or walk away by Wednesday. The company also urged Segro to seek an extension to the deadline.
