Kratos Gets $156 Million Contract Energy Department Contract for Counter-Drone Systems
By Kelly Cloonan
Kratos Defense & Security Solutions received a contract for about $156 million from the Energy Department to provide systems aimed at countering national security threats posed by drones.
The defense technology company said Tuesday the contract for its mobile counter-unmanned aircraft system, C-UAS, platforms is from the department's National Nuclear Security Administration Office of Secure Transportation, which is responsible for transporting nuclear weapons, weapon components and special nuclear materials, as well as other national security missions.
Kratos said its approach combines the C-UAS system, mobile platform design, command-and-control and power management technologies into an integrated solution that's designed to support evolving mission requirements across the continental U.S.
Work under the program award will be performed at secure Kratos facilities, the company said. It expects work under the contract to begin immediately.
