Boeing Inks Aircraft Deals With MSC Air Cargo, Uganda Airlines, Luxair
By Connor Hart
Boeing has inked aircraft deals with MSC Air Cargo, Uganda Airlines and Luxair, supplying freighter and passenger planes to support their operations.
MSC Air Cargo, an air-cargo operator, on Tuesday said it purchased five 777-8 freighters, which offer the highest payload as well as the lowest fuel use, emissions and operating cost per ton of any large freighter, according to the company.
"The 777-8 Freighter gives us the efficiency, range and capacity to serve our customers reliably for years to come, while advancing our commitment to more sustainable operations," Chief Executive Jannie Davel said, calling the model the right aircraft for MSC's next stage of growth.
Also on Tuesday, Uganda Airlines said it ordered four 737-8 and four 787-9 airplanes as it aims to grow and modernize its fleet. The airline said its first-ever Boeing airplane purchase will support growing demand across its regional and international network.
"The aircraft will strengthen our ability to connect Uganda more efficiently to regional, continental and international markets, while supporting trade, tourism, investment and cargo development," Chief Executive Ato Girma Wake said.
And Luxair on Tuesday said it has converted two options for 737-10 aircraft into firm orders, while additionally securing options for two additional 737-10 aircraft.
"This agreement represents another important milestone in the execution of our long-term fleet strategy," Chief Executive Gilles Feith said, adding that the company chose the 737-10 model for its capacity, operational efficiency and flexibility.
