Sweden's EQT Expects Strong Fundraising Momentum as It Posts Higher Net Profit
By Adria Calatayud
Swedish buyout group EQT said it enters the second half of the year with strong fundraising momentum, after it reported rises in net profit and revenue for the first half aided by higher fee-generating assets.
The investor made a net profit of 663 million euros ($758.8 million) for the first half compared with 346 million euros for the year-earlier period, it said Friday.
Revenue climbed to 1.61 billion euros from 1.27 billion euros, driven by an increase in interest and investment income that offset a decline in management fees.
Fee-generating assets under management rose to 155.4 billion euros as of June 30, up from 141.2 billion euros at the end of December. Analysts polled by Visible Alpha expected fee-generating assets under management at 144.7 billion euros.
EQT said its funds invested 19 billion euros in the first half, up from 7 billion euros a year before. It collected 7 billion euros through gross fund exits, down from 13 billion euros.
All key funds continue to perform on or above plan, and the company enters the second half with an attractive pipeline of new investments, EQT Chief Executive and Managing Partner Per Franzen said.
