Utilities Shares Rise Amid Economic Resilience — Utilities Roundup

Stocks in the utilities sector rose slightly amid indications that the U.S. economy remains resilient.

Constellation Energy's venture arm invested an undisclosed amount in Blue Energy, a developer of financeable, prefabricated nuclear power plants. The move marks Constellation Technology Ventures' first investment in a U.S. nuclear developer advancing small modular reactors, Blue Energy said in a press release.

Waste Management rose 4.1% as the top names in the industry are expected to boost their guidance. Waste Connections and Republic Services also went up. "We expect the three large waste companies to raise FY26 revenue guides driven by higher fuel surcharge, recovery in commodity prices, and favorable pricing/yield driven by technology initiatives," Deutsche Bank said in a research note.

U.S. natural gas inventories rose by a little less than usual last week, according to data released by the EIA. Gas in underground storage facilities increased by 41 billion cubic feet to 3,024 Bcf.
