J&J's DePuy Synthes Acquires Expanding Innovations

By Colin Kellaher

Johnson & Johnson's DePuy Synthes unit has acquired Expanding Innovations, a maker of expandable implant technology for spine surgery, for an undisclosed amount.

J&J on Thursday said the deal bolsters DePuy Synthes' spine portfolio and expands its position in the growing expandable interbody cage segment.

The New Brunswick, N.J., healthcare company said Expanding Innovations' proprietary, non-screw-based interbody cage technology is designed to help mitigate the incidence of post-operative cage collapse and vertebral body subsidence.
