Analysts See Weekly Decline in U.S. Crude Oil Stockpiles
By Anthony Harrup
U.S. crude oil inventories likely fell moderately last week along with small declines in gasoline and distillate stocks, according to a survey by The Wall Street Journal.
Commercial crude stocks are seen falling by 900,000 barrels, to 410.5 million barrels, in the week ended July 10, according to the average estimate of nine analysts and traders. Four predict an increase and five expect a decline. Expectations range from a stock build of 2 million barrels to a withdrawal of 3.8 million barrels.
Gasoline inventories are expected to have decreased by 300,000 barrels, to 211.8 million barrels, with estimates ranging from a 2.1 million-barrel rise to a 2.3 million-barrel fall.
Stocks of distillate fuel, mostly diesel, are forecast to be down by 100,000 barrels, at 103.5 million barrels, with forecasts ranging from a 3.3 million-barrel increase to a 3.7 million-barrel drop.
Refinery capacity use is seen up by one tenth of a percentage point, at 95.9%. Forecasts range from a one percentage point rise to a half percentage point fall. Two analysts didn't forecast refinery runs.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration is scheduled to release the weekly data on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
