Siemens, FuelCell Energy Collaborate to Drive Growth in Fuel Cell-Based Power Generation
By Robb M. Stewart
Siemens is partnering with FuelCell Energy to explore the development of fuel cell power generation at scale.
The agreement between the companies brings together electrical design and supply with fuel cell technologies to support deployment of distributed energy systems, the companies said.
As part of the collaboration, Siemens will design and supply electrical balance of plant systems for fuel cell installations, which will support the rapid deployment of 100-plus megawatt commercial projects.
By combining FuelCell Energy's fuel cell technology with Siemens' electrical infrastructure, service and integration expertise, the companies can deliver scalable, on-site power solutions for energy-intensive applications, said Kevin Brown, head of sustainability solutions, electrification and automation at Siemens Smart Infrastructure USA.
The companies said additional efforts will include pilot projects and development initiatives to assess new applications for fuel cell systems and electrical infrastructure, including medium-voltage DC power delivery and modular electrical systems.
