Titan Mining Gets Lease to Build Graphite Purification Facility on U.S. Army Bases
By Kelly Cloonan
The U.S. Army awarded long-term leases to Titan Mining to build a domestic graphite purification facility at two U.S. military bases.
The leases are at Pine Bluff Arsenal, Ark. and Anniston Army Depot, Ala., the company said Thursday. The lease term is up to 50 years.
The awards are part of a federal initiative to establish commercial mineral refining enterprises on U.S. military bases in an effort to minimize the U.S.'s dependence on foreign-controlled supply chains, the company said.
"These awards mark a turning point in ending America's dependence on Chinese-controlled supply chains," Titan Mining's Chief Executive Rita Adiani said.
