Yum Brands to Sell Pizza Hut for $2.7 Billion

By Colin Kellaher

Yum Brands has agreed to sell its Pizza Hut business in a pair of deals for a total of $2.7 billion.

Yum on Tuesday said private-equity firm LongRange Capital agreed to acquire Pizza Hut outside of mainland China for about $1.5 billion, while Yum China Holdings agreed to acquire Pizza Hut in mainland China for roughly $1.2 billion.

The deals, slated to close in the third quarter, mark the culmination of a strategic review of Pizza Hut that the Louisville, Ky., owner of KFC and Taco Bell launched last November.

Yum said it expects net proceeds of about $2.3 billion, adding that its board has approved an incremental $4 billion stock-buyback authorization.
