Chubb Shareholders Approve Dividend Boost, $7.5 Billion Buyback Authorization

By Elias Schisgall

Shareholders of Chubb approved a boost to the insurance company's dividend and a new $7.5 billion stock-buyback authorization.

The quarterly dividend was boosted by 5.2% to $1.02 a share, from 97 cents, in the insurer's 33rd consecutive annual dividend increase.

The new payout, equal to $4.08 a year, represents a 1.2% annual yield based on the company's Wednesday closing price of $328.38.

The dividend will be paid on July 2 to shareholders of record as of June 12.

The company had proposed the dividend increase in February.

The new share-repurchase authorization is set to become effective July 1, a day after Chubb's existing buyback authorization expires.
