Amgen Names Thomas Dittrich as Finance Chief
By Katherine Hamilton
Amgen named Thomas Dittrich, a former finance executive at the company, as its next chief financial officer.
The biotechnology company said Tuesday that Dittrich will succeed Peter Griffith, who is retiring on Aug. 31.
Griffith will retire after starting in January 2020. He will remain employed in a non-executive position from September to January to help oversee the transition.
Dittrich, 62, served in several senior finance roles at Amgen for about eight years. He left in 2014 and most recently served as chief financial officer of Galderma, a biopharmaceutical company.
Dittrich will start working with Griffith as a non-executive employee now, and will officially step into the role on Sept. 1. He will initially be based in Switzerland before relocating to Thousand Oaks, Calif.
Amgen plans to pay Dittrich an annual salary of 1.07 million Swiss francs, equal to about $1.36 million. He is also eligible to receive a one-time, two-year retention bonus of 5.8 million francs, as well as a 250,000-franc relocation allowance.
