Communications Services Down on Retreat from Consumer-Spending Areas — Communications Services Roundup

Communications-services fell sharply as traders retreated from sectors exposed to shifts in consumer spending priorities.

Japanese entertainment conglomerate Sony Group agreed to acquire the full catalog of Recognition Music Group, a collection of more than 45,000 pop songs from artists ranging from Rihanna to Fleetwood Mac.

ABC has been a victim of a "sustained, coordinated campaign of censorship and control" by the Trump administration, Federal Communications Commissioner Anna Gomez told Josh D'Amaro, chief executive of Disney, the network's parent company.

Fox shares rose after the broadcaster, which has some common ownership with the publisher of this newswire, posted quarterly adjusted earnings ahead of Wall Street expectations and said it has acquired two additional NFL games for the 2026-27 season.
