FSIS Issues Alert About Mama Cozzi's Breakfast Pizza Items Sold at Aldi
By Josh Beckerman
The Agriculture Department's Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert about two breakfast pizza products sold at Aldi in connection with a recent salmonella-related recall of powdered milk.
The alert is for two Mama Cozzi's Biscuit Crust items supplied by Richelieu Foods, one with pork belly crumbles, bacon, pepper and onion, and one with sausage and cheese. FSIS said there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions related to these items.
FSIS expects more downstream products will be identified as the ingredient recall progresses.
On Monday, Ghirardelli Chocolate said it recalled certain powdered drink mixes following a California Dairies Inc. milk powder recall. The Visalia, Calif.-based cooperative California Dairies has $4 billion in annual product sales, according to its website.
Richelieu is owned by Freiberger USA, which is part of Südzucker Group.
