OGE Energy to Power Three Google Data Centers in Oklahoma
By Katherine Hamilton
OGE Energy signed a deal to power three data centers for Alphabet's Google.
The Oklahoma City energy company will service new data centers that the tech conglomerate announced in Muskogee and Stillwater, Okla., OGE said Thursday.
Google is committing to pay all of the costs to connect the data center sites to the grid, as well as contracted costs regardless of its energy use. Google will also pay its share of power generation required to serve the data centers, OGE said.
Google also agreed to make power generation capacity available from two solar facilities that are currently under construction.
The electric service and capacity purchase agreements will be filed to Oklahoma regulators in the coming days, OGE said.
OGE's stock advanced 4.2% to $49.31 in premarket trading Thursday.
