Stellantis Upbeat on Road Back to Profit
By Joshua Kirby
Stellantis said it remains confident of returning to profit this year after swinging to net earnings in the year's first months.
The auto giant, which makes brands such as Jeep, Citroen and Peugeot, said Thursday that it made a net profit of 377 million euros ($440.20 million) between January and March, swinging from a loss of 387 million euros in the same period last year.
The group earlier this year said it hoped to return to profit this year after making a hefty net loss in 2025, the result of impairments totaling some $26 billion the group booked as it rows back its investments in electric vehicles.
Revenue rose 6% over the first quarter of 2026 to 38.13 billion euros, Stellantis said. The adjusted operating margin meanwhile climbed to 2.5%.
On the back of the improved results, Stellantis reaffirmed its guidance for the full year. The company has previously said it aims for a mid-single-digit percent rise in revenue for the year, and a swing to a slightly positive operating margin.
"The first three months of 2026 reflect the early results of our actions to return Stellantis to sustainable, profitable growth," said Antonio Filosa, the group's chief executive.
