Elliott Sees Opportunity for Daikin to Boost Profitability, Share Prices

  Elliott Investment Management said it sees significant opportunity for Daikin Industries to enhance its profitability and share prices. 



  The U.S. activist investor said Monday that it holds a 3% stake in Daikin. 



  The Japanese maker of air conditioners could take bold steps to close its margin gap versus its peers, start a share buyback program, and review operations that aren't critical to its main businesses, Elliott said. 



  Earlier this month, Elliott said it had built a significant investment in Daikin and that the company's market-leading businesses and track record of long-term growth are undervalued by the market. 



  Elliott said it remained committed to working constructively with the Japanese company to deliver an ambitious, credible medium-term management plan.
