Beiersdorf Confirms Outlook After Challenging Start to the Year
By Andrea Figueras
Nivea-maker Beiersdorf maintained its guidance for the current year after posting a decrease in first-quarter sales.
The German cosmetics company on Tuesday logged quarterly sales of 2.48 billion euros ($2.92 billion), down 4.6% organically compared with the same period a year prior.
The dermatology business continued to perform strongly, while Nivea and La Prairie recorded unfavorable results. However, better sales trends indicate an improvement over the coming quarters, it said.
The performance during the first three months of the year was impacted by a high comparison base in the prior-year period, temporary disruptions in key markets, and delayed effects from recent innovations, Chief Executive Vincent Warnery said. These factors are not expected to persist throughout the year, he said, noting that the first quarter shouldn't be seen as an indicator for the full-year performance.
For 2026 as a whole, the company continues to expect group net sales to be flat to slightly growing organically, with the earnings before interest and taxes margin excluding special factors slightly below the 2025 level.
