UnitedHealth Group More Than Doubled CEO Compensation Last Year

UnitedHealth Group paid Chief Executive Stephen Hemsley $60.9 million last year, more than double the amount awarded to its previous leader.
Hemsley's payout included a salary of $596,154 and $60 million in option awards.
The health-insurance company had paid former CEO Andrew Witty $24.6 million in 2025, $26.3 million in 2024, and $23.5 million in 2023.
Hemsley, a former UnitedHealth CEO who had been serving as chairman, returned to lead the company after Witty stepped down in May.
Chief Financial Officer Wayne DeVeydt, who started in September, received $14.6 million in total compensation last year, including a $1.2 million bonus and a salary of $284,615.
Timothy Noel, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, received $20.2 million in compensation, while Optum CEO Patrick Conway received $19.9 million.
