U.S. Grain Export Inspections Up From Last Week

By Kirk Maltais

U.S. grain export inspections rose from the prior week, according to data from the Department of Agriculture.

In a weekly report published Monday, the USDA said that for the week ended April 16, corn inspections rose to 1.67 million metric tons, up from 1.62 million tons the prior week. Soybean inspections were 748,678 tons and wheat rose to 518,141 tons.

For corn, inspections seen in this year's report were less than seen at this time last year. For soybeans and wheat, the totals seen Monday came in higher than reported for the prior week and the same week last year.

Corn and wheat export inspections are on track to meet or exceed USDA projections for sales this marketing year, according to data published by the Hightower Report on Monday. Soybeans are behind the pace needed to meet USDA forecasts, says the firm.

CBOT corn is up 0.6% Monday, while soybeans fall 0.1% and wheat is up 1.5%.
