Stellantis Shipments Rise on Strong Growth in North America and Europe

Jeep maker Stellantis reported an estimated 12% increase in first-quarter vehicle shipments, driven by strong growth in North America and Europe.

The company said Wednesday that global shipments--vehicle deliveries to dealers, distributors, or directly from the company to retail and fleet customers--rose to an estimated 1.36 million units.

In North America, vehicle shipments rose 17% in the quarter. Around 54,000 more cars were shipped than in the same quarter a year earlier, buoyed by increased momentum in the region from the company's V8-powered Ram light-duty truck, its refreshed Jeep Grand Wagoneer and the new Jeep Cherokee.

European shipments rose by 69,000 vehicles, representing a 12% increase on year. Growth was spurred by new model launches including the Citroen C3, Citroen C3 Aircross, Opel Frontera and Fiat Grande Panda.

Leapmotor-branded vehicles also gained commercial momentum in Europe, with shipments increasing by 22,000 units to around 27,000 vehicles. The automaker acquired a 20% stake in the Chinese EV maker in 2023 and the companies formed a joint venture to sell and produce Leapmotor cars outside China.

Stellantis said vehicle shipments also increased across South America, Middle East & Africa, and Asia Pacific, though shipments in Gulf Cooperation Council countries decreased by more than half to around 3,000 units.
