CHEP Pallet Owner Brambles Says Class Action Impact Is Unclear

By Stuart Condie

SYDNEY--CHEP pallet owner Brambles said it can't yet assess the financial impact of an Australian court ruling that its fiscal 2017 financial forecasts were overly optimistic.

ASX-listed Brambles on Monday said it was insured but that it would not be able to quantify the hit from the shareholder class action until damages had been assessed and any appeals process was exhausted.

Late Friday, a Federal Court judge ruled that Brambles had misled shareholders with its profit and sales forecasts over parts of the financial year that ended June 30, 2017.

Justice Bernard Murphy cleared Brambles of similar claims related to other parts of the year and beyond.
