Nvidia Invests $2 Billion in Marvell as Part of Chip Partnership
By Nicholas G. Miller
Nvidia invested $2 billion in semiconductor company Marvell Technology as part of a new partnership focused on specialized AI chips.
The partnership will connect Marvell to Nvidia's AI ecosystem, offering customers building on Nvidia architectures "greater choice and flexibility in developing next-generation infrastructure," the companies said.
The companies will collaborate on silicon photonics technology, which uses light to process data on silicon chips.
Through the partnership, Marvell will provide custom chips, while Nvidia will provide the supporting technologies and data center architecture.
"Together with Marvell, we are enabling customers to leverage Nvidia's AI infrastructure ecosystem and scale to build specialized AI compute," said Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang.
