Tech Down on Flight From Risk — Tech Roundup
Shares of technology companies fell as traders continued to flee high-risk sectors.
The SPDR Select Sector Technology exchange-traded fund, which tracks the tech sector of the S&P 500, fell 2% and is now down by about 12% for the year to date.
The mega-cap tech stocks that are driving the artificial-intelligence boom have been even harder hit.
The Roundhill Magnificent Seven exchange-traded fund is down 15% for the year to date and roughly 20% from its all-time high in October.
One strategist said many analysts are raising earnings estimates for tech companies, even as they sell off heavily.
"You're starting to see where certain tech stocks are probably undervalued because they're growing so rapidly," said J.D. Joyce, president of Houston financial advisory Joyce Wealth Management.
Palo Alto Networks rose as analysts said an executive's $10 million purchase of the cybersecurity company's stock was a promising sign.
