Uber to Acquire Chauffeur Company Blacklane
By Nicholas G. Miller
Uber Technologies agreed to acquire chauffeur-service company Blacklane as the ride-hailing company seeks to expand into the business of luxury and executive travel.
Blacklane, which operates in over 500 cities in more than 60 countries, connects riders with independent local chauffeur services through an app and web-booking platform, Uber said.
Uber said executive travel is a fast-growing segment of its business, "driven by strong demand for planned, high-quality transport services."
The deal is expected to close by the end of the year.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
Uber shares were up 1% to $69.85 in premarket trading.
