Ganfeng Lithium Returns to Annual Net Profit
By Jason Chau
China's Ganfeng Lithium returned to profitability in 2025, supported by a recovery in sales volumes and prices.
The lithium producer said Tuesday it swung to a net profit of 1.61 billion yuan last year, equivalent to $232.9 million, from a 2.07 billion yuan net loss in 2024.
Revenue rose to 22.80 billion yuan in 2025 from 18.73 billion yuan in the previous year.
The Chinese lithium producer attributed the return to profitability to a recovery in sales prices and a jump in sales volumes for its lithium salts and battery products, driven by shifts in supply and demand.
Stronger operating revenue, increased gains from disposals of subsidiaries, stakes in associate companies and its financial assets also supported 2025 results, the company said.
Ganfeng's Hong Kong-listed shares were last trading 1.4% lower, while its Shenzhen-listed shares were last down 0.7%.
Looking ahead, Citi expects mixed first-quarter results, with weaker margins at its battery segment partly offset by higher lithium prices and cost-saving measures.
Ganfeng, China's largest lithium compounds producer and the world's biggest lithium metal supplier, is a key player in the country's new energy supply chain. It products are used in industries including electric vehicles and energy storage.
