Teamsters Reach Tentative Agreement With DHL
By P.R. Venkat
The Teamsters National Negotiating Committee has reached a tentative agreement with DHL that includes a 20% wage increase and higher health and welfare contributions, averting a nationwide strike that would have involved thousands of U.S. workers.
The proposed four-year deal also establishes safeguards against AI-driven routing systems that could undermine seniority and explicitly bars the use of autonomous vehicles that threaten union jobs, the union said Sunday.
The current DHL Teamsters National Master Agreement was set to expire on March 31. Workers had authorized a strike by a 96% margin, signaling readiness to walk out to secure a new contract.
"This agreement sets a new benchmark at the company and proves once again that no one fights harder for workers in the delivery and logistics industry than the Teamsters Union," Teamsters General President Sean M. O'Brien said.
