Vinci to Acquire Indian Toll Highway Concessions Portfolio for Around $1.60 Billion

By Nina Kienle

Vinci said it signed an agreement with Macquarie Asset Management to acquire the Safeway Concessions portfolio, valued at around 150 billion Indian rupees ($1.60 billion) including debt/cash.

The French construction company on Thursday said the portfolio comprises nine toll highway concessions in southeast India, as well as in the west of the country.

The concessions total nearly 700 kilometers of highway sections, linking important industrial, agricultural and logistics areas, that are operated under contracts with the National Highways Authority of India.

"The acquisition of a highway portfolio of this size and quality is a rare opportunity in a fast-growing market," Vinci said.

Financial closing is expected by the end of 2026, while the transaction is subject to approval by the relevant Indian authorities, it said.
